Mass General Hospital is the original and longest teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School, located in Boston's West End. The hospital is the third oldest hospital in the United States and is known as the largest hospital based research program in the world. MGH was founded in 1811 as a hospital to care for the poor.
Today, the hospital works with 47,000 patients per year and performs close to 35,000 yearly operations.
